No fear at the dentists

It is very important that the first visit to the dentist is a positive experience for a child. Our well trained staff is always on hand to take care of all any fear and uncertainty your children may have. Through games and fun trust is built between the children and the staff.
Already at the first visit we will give your child a small treatment and a small clean again building a positive experience for your child.

Before your children’s first visit to the dentist
It is important that a trip to the dentists is a positive experience for all, therefore the parents must also show a sign of positivity and happiness as a sign of confidence and relaxation to the child. Children will feel the sense of anxiety and stress if their parents are feeling this way, and of course it will rub off on them.

Any bad experiences or negative expressions should be avoided when discussion the dentist in front of your child, sentences like „it won’t hurt“ or „you don’t need to fear anything“ actually can cause anxiety and fear in children.
A very good way to prepare your child for his first visit to the dentist is to read him a story about it, playing the roles with a favourite soft toy or puppet. This toy or puppet should also come to the dentist with the child.
The equipment we use for the treatments also have names which the child understands, so there are no “injections” but “sleep beads and glitter beads”, the “drill” is called an “electric toothbrush”. The teeth are then sent to sleep, cleaned, showered and then creamed. This is why it’s important not to say too much to your children before visiting the dentist, and not to already give them replacement words for equipment.

Pain Free Anaesthesia

The new computer backed anaesthesia method (the Wand) enables us to perform a pain free anaesthesia.
Sometimes a general anaesthetic is required, which can be made in the practice.

Treatment with Laughing Gas

When a child is afraid of the treatment, it is sometimes helpful to use laughing gas, which helps relax the child.
This method also reduces any pain felt by the child and gives them a feeling of euphoria. We always use a mixture of Laughing Gas and Oxygen. At the end of the treatment the laughing gas is exhaled and cleaned through the oxygen, meaning the patient leaves the practice in a completely normal condition.

Treatment of a Full Anaesthetic

General anaesthesia may be used in difficult cases. Examples may be that the child has extensive destruction of the primary teeth, he or she is very small and unwilling to be treated, or in the case of patients with mental or physical disabilities, who cannot be treated on the dentist chair.

We work with an experienced Anaesthesia team, they are on hand to care for your child before, during and after the procedure until the point your child is fit enough to leave the practice.
